Much to no one’s surprise, Wii Sports Resort is selling quite well. Sequel to the title that is responsible for igniting the casual game craze that has been sweeping the industry, Resort has been flying off store shelves and into the hands of all ages and across nations.
In the U.S. alone, the game has sold 500,000 units in a little over a week. Not only that but, according to GamesIndustry.biz, sales are doing even better overseas. Reports indicate that in Europe, Wii Sports Resort has sold over 600,000 copies. It doesn’t end there, Gamasutra reported that Nindendo’s home country leads with sales totaling in at 828,000.
That makes for a global total of approximately 2 million copies of Resort in the hands of gamers. As most of you know, Resort comes packed in with the Wii Motion Plus, so you can bet Nintendo has every one of those 2 million customers sold on their new technology. Not at bad means to distribute a new peripheral, eh?
