PS4 game releases for April 2015

How do you follow up Bloodborne?

March was a very busy month for PlayStation 4 owners. But with Final Fantasy Type Type 0-HD, Bloodborne, and MLB 15 The Show already out, what else do PS4 owners have to look forward to? While April isn’t filled with nearly as many blockbusters, there are quite a few decent games set to release this month.

Here’s a look at what’s coming to PlayStation 4 in April 2015.

Bastion – April 7, 2015

Bastion is an action role-playing game from independent developer Supergiant Games. In the game, you play as “the Kid,” moving through a floating, fantasy world and fighting enemies of various types. Its presentation is what garners most attention though, mostly thanks to dynamic voiceover from a narrator that comments on your every move. Of course, the graphics, music, and gameplay are all worthy of praise as well.

Although Bastion was first released in 2011, the PS4 version will mark the first time its available to PlayStation owners.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin – April 7, 2015

For many new PS4 owners, Bloodborne was the first Souls-esque game they’ve ever played.

Well, if you loved it then you’ll probably want to dive into Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, as it’s from the same studio that created the well-received PS4 exclusive. While the two games vary greatly in gameplay, the same core experience that you felt while playing Bloodborne is present in Dark Souls II. Even if you played Dark Souls II when it released on PS3, Scholar of the First Sin is a completely different experience, features new enemies, map shortcuts, overhauled graphics/performance, new weapons/armor, and even changing where certain enemies may be found.

Mortal Kombat X – April 14, 2015

Mortal Kombat X

NetherRealm Studios’ iconic fighting franchise returns with Mortal Kombat X. New to it are two types of finishers: Quitality, which instantly kills a player if they quit or leave during a multiplayer match; and Faction Kills, finishing moves tied to each of the game’s five factions. There’s also a number of new characters joining the roster, including Cassie Cage, D’Vorah, Jacqui Briggs, Kung Jin, and more. Of course, a number of fan-favorite characters are returning as well, including Liu Kang. DLC characters include Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tanya, and Tremor.

Titan Souls – April 14, 2015

Titan Souls is a strategic, open-world 2D, top-down action game. The real kicker is that you only have one arrow and one HP, and the goal is to defeat the 20 bosses which, like the player, have just one HP but only one way to be defeated.

Shovel Knight – April 21, 2015

Shovel Knight is a 2D side-scrolling platformer presented in glorious 8-bit graphics that remind us of the glory days of retro gaming. In the game you play as  the eponymous Shovel Knight, a small knight with a huge quest: defeat the evil Enchantress and save his lost beloved. Initially released for Nintendo platforms and PC, this will be the first time Shovel Knight is available on PlayStation (it’s also coming to PS3 and Vita).

Broken Age: The Complete Adventure – April 28, 2015

Launched as a Kickstarter crowdfunded project back in February 2012, Broken Age: The Complete ADventure remains one of the highest-backed projects of any type. It’s a point-and-click adventure that marks game director Tim Schafer’s retrun to the genre since 1998’s Grim Fandango. The game features two playable characters, each located in separate worlds; the player can switch from one character to the other via the game's interface at any time, but otherwise these characters do not interact in any direct way.

Also releasing April 28: Tropico 5, Omega Quintet

TBA for April 2015: Krinkle Krusher, Mighty No. 9
