Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – GC – Preview

E3 2003 – First Look

One of my favorite
games of all time, and I know I’m not alone, was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
The Arcade Game for the original NES. Since then lots of Ninja Turtle beat ‘em
ups have come out, but then they disappeared after the SNES. Well, now we
finally get a next generation Ninja Turtles beat ‘em up in 2003.

Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles looks awesome. The whole attitude of the Turtles is captured with
the graphics and gameplay. All the action is nicely cel-shaded in 3D and looks
like the cartoon. Just looking at the game in action reminded me of the old
Ninja Turtle games, but new and in 3D. It brought a tear to my eye and a smile
to my face.

Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles will also support two players simultaneously, so you can relive
the days of beating The Arcade Game with your friend on a summer afternoon.
Unfortunately there is no four-player support, which would have been really fun.

There isn’t much
else to the game compared to the old ones – grab a friend, pick a turtle, and go
beat up Shredder. Waves of gang members, foot soldiers, mousers and more will
try and stop you, just like in the old days. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a
trip back in time, yet the graphics contend with titles today. It should be a
big hit when it comes out this fall.
