MotoGP 07 – 360 – Preview

At THQ’s recent press event, the company unveiled
a playable build of their next title in the MotoGP series, MotoGP 07. Instead of
a juiced-up port of an existing current-gen version of the game (which is
arguably what last year’s entry, MotoGP 06, was) this one is being developed
with next-gen hardware in mind. The results are immediately visible, as the game
offers great high-def visuals that will bring the series up to date with new
systems. However, the additions go beyond the graphics as the game will present
deep customization features, robust online modes, and a new streamlined
interface, all while offering the same brand of sim-heavy motorcycle racing that
fans of the series have come to know and love.

One of MotoGP 07’s biggest additions to the
series comes in the form of the vehicle customizations. In the game’s Extreme
Mode, you’ll be able to customize your bike as never before, gearing your
engine, tires, brake pads, and even paint options to make sure your ride is to
your liking.

The game will also offer some great new online
options, including a new pink slip mode. In this mode, you’ll put up your
customized bike as collateral as you race against other players online. If you
lose the race, you’ll lose your bike.

Even though the game is still a ways away from
release, MotoGP 07 still looks great. The tracks are very impressive, with tons
of details like fully 3D rendered spectators and environmental objects, as well
as an excellent sense of speed. Crash animations are also well done, breaking
into slow-motion as your rider spills onto the track.

MotoGP 07 is turning out to be another fine
addition to the series, boasting great features and excellent graphics. Look for
it later this year.
