According to Bill Murray, the voice actor behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Captain Price, the recent report — or rumor rather — that Modern Warfare 4 is in development is "not accurate".
"This article is not accurate," Murray posted on Twitter, along with the original link to the rumor source. Murray explained, "I told the guy I was doing a special Modern Warfare for China, not MW4."
Murray is likely referring to the free-to-play Call of Duty game being developed exclusively for the Chinese market.
"The guy I spoke to on the plane was very nice and I'm really pleased he loves the game but the facts have got a bit confused somewhere," he added. "Also I couldn't have said I was meeting them Monday as I was on a Monday evening flight to London! Sorry for the confusion!"
Infinity Ward initially responded to the rumor: "Interesting news today, but it's not true. We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."
Still, with Infinity Ward or co-developer Sledgehammer Games working on the next Call of Duty installment, it's entirely possible we could get a Modern Warfare sequel. Looks like we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, fans can enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 which is set to release on Tuesday, November 13.
