Darksiders II Collector’s Edition announced, plus free upgrade to Limited Edition

Last Friday we reported on a mysterious tweet posted on the Darksiders Twitter feed (@Darksiders). Today was the day of the big reveal: the Darksiders II Collector's Edition has been announced.

The massive Collection's Edition includes the Limited Edition of Darksiders II the game, the exclusive "Shadow of Death" pack (the Shadow of Death armor and scythe set with enhanced stats), a life-size replica Death Mask with display stand, a Darksiders II hardcover art book, a digital download of the game's soundtrack, and a download code for the "Argul's Tomb" DLC (when active). This special package can be pre-ordered for consoles through retailers, but the PC version must be bought exclusively from the THQ store. Currently, the THQ website has the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions priced at $99.99. That's enough to bring a little Death to your wallet.

THQ also announced that everyone who pre-orders Darksiders II will get a free upgrade to the Limited Edition of the game, which includes the "Argul's Tomb" DLC.

“The Darksiders II fans spoke and we listened, we are thrilled to be able to offer them a high quality Collector’s Edition and to reward gamers who pre-order with a free upgrade to the Limited Edition," said Jim Huntley, vice president of global brand marketing for THQ.

The events of Darksiders II run parallel to those of the first game, following Death as he tries to exonerate his brother War, blamed for prematurely starting the apocalypse.
