Last Thursday marked the one month anniversary of the launch of Destiny. And to celebrate, developer Bungie included all sorts of fun stats in their latest weekly update.
For starters, Destiny is averaging 3.2 million players each day with the average playtime hoverring around three hours a day, "even on weekdays, one month after launch."
Bungie furthered that the "average" player plays Destiny 1.8 times a day and has played the game 20.9 times.
"Over the past three weeks, we’ve had more players online in Destiny than we did during the same span for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, combined."
Not bad for a game that's constantly being slammed as repetitive and boring, right?
Sure, Destiny may not be living up to the hype that Bungie once promised. I think many of us would agree that it's not the revolutionary next-gen game that we all hoped it would be. But it's fun. And I keep going back to it — regardless of how frustrating the grind can be at times.
"We thank you for playing. And, we thank you for the passion and enthusiasm that has made the Destiny community so strong already. It's been amazing to watch your Guardians become legends. Your reactions and your opinions have helped us to make Destiny better over this past month," Bungie said.
Destiny still has a long way to go, but with Bungie's 10-year vision, I'm excited to be a part of that journey.
