Faceplates for New Nintendo 3DS sell around 19K at launch

It's a decent amount, decent.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL launched in Japan last week. On the opening weekend the New 3DS sold around 60K+ and the New 3DS XL sold around 170K+/-.

The New 3DS launched with a slew of faceplates, but how well did they sell in comparison to the handheld? According to Media Create, a Japanese sales tracker, around 19,000 faceplates were sold at launch.

Of the 38 faceplates that were made available at launch, Monster Hunter, Yoshi and the wood grain faceplates were among the most popuer. The Monster Hunter faceplate was one of the more popular faceplates, but that might be due tot he release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Timing is everything.
