Activision has no comment on Destiny 2

Bungie's next full game already underway

Well, this probably doesn't come as much of a surprise, but Activision doesn't have anything to announce when it comes to yesterday's earnings call in which company CEO Eric Hirshberg let the "Destiny 2" cat out of the bag.

Although Hirshberg never explicitly referred to Bungie's "next full game release" as "Destiny 2," many sites took his quote and ran with it since it was contained in comments about Bungie's newest MMO shooter.

"Players are already asking for new content. And on December 9, we plan on satisfying that demand by launching our first expansion pack, The Dark Below, with all-new maps, missions, gear, weapons and a brand-new raid. Work has also begun on future expansion packs as well as on our next full-game release" Hirshberg's exact comments were when speaking about the future of Destiny.

It can be — and definitely was — was assumed that Hirshberg was referring to a sequel to Destiny, but right now Activision has nothing to announce.

"At Activision we are very pleased at the launch of Destiny and look forward to working with Bungie to expand the universe over the course of our 10-year relationship," an Activision representative said in a statement. "We have nothing further to announce at this time."

Since its release in September, Bungie has been working feverishly to get Destiny up to the standard players demand. Though the vision for Bungie's newest MMO shooter was grand upon its announcement, the actual game's release was met with mediocre reception as many of Bungie's promises fell flat. To the developer's credit, they've worked hard on addressing critiques and continue to listen to player feedback to improve the gameplay experience.
