Destiny's PvP-centric event, The Iron Banner, will return next week, and Bungie has confirmed it will not feature new maps from the game's expansion, The Dark Below.
In announcing the Iron Banner's return on Tuesday, December 16, Bungie assured players it will just be played on maps that were available at the game's launch. With complaints over this week's Weekly Heroic Activities only offering missions from the DLC, there was likely some concerns similar issues would arise in the Crucible.
Bungie noted that the Iron Banner will replace a premium playlist currently featured, but didn't specify which one. For those of you who did buy the DLC, Bungie said the Control game mode will be playable on new maps from The Dark Below starting Tuesday, December 23.
Bungie didn't specify any details, like what type of armor would be rewarded, or any changes to the Iron Banner this time around, but the developer did previously mention plans to change over from a Reputation to an Event Standing model where ranks are reset at the end. It's unclear if they will be making that switch with this Iron Banner, as they previously said the change will only be made "after we better tune the effort required to reach higher ranks."
