Top 10 pet peeves in Dragon Age Inquisition’s multiplayer

Everything bright has a shadow

Now that Dragon Age Inquisition has been out for a few weeks now, you’ve had amble time to get down and dirty with the multiplayer. All the countless hours of Red Templar smashing fun doesn’t come without a slew of pet peeves though – after all, it’s only natural. There is no game without faults nor is there a game where someone won’t try to troll or exploit the system. So without any further ado, let’s dive right into it the top pet peeves of Dragon Age Inquisition’s multiplayer:

#10 – Using Healing Pots with Near Full Health

The bottom of this list is 100% user error. You’ve been there before, you switched to a class you’ve never used so you’re unfamiliar with the controls. In a moment of weakness you hit the wrong button and drink a health potion with near full health. Not only did you waste one of your two pots for this run, but those pots aren’t infinite. Sure after countless hours of playing you probably have a slew of these handy – but at first this is a nightmare. Stupid button mashing.

#9 – Can't Respec Characters

You’ve leveled your class a bunch but at you get in the mid-teens and you realize the process has slowed down a ton. Suddenly each of your ability points seem to matter a whole lot more. However, you didn’t read all your abilities beforehand or accidently put a point where you didn’t want – now you’re sad. Guess what, you are stuck now. You can’t ‘respec’ until you reach level 20 and you ‘promote’ that class. This isn’t a pure respec though since promoting drops you to level 1. Since leveling to 20 isn’t a terrible process, especially on Threating and above, this only made it to #9.

#8 – Vases / Pots Hit boxes and Regeneration

This drives me absolutely nuts. I have missed major battles due to NOT being able to hit a vase or pot with melee attacks with a melee weapon. I swear, these things are just impossible to hit sometimes. On TOP of all that, sometimes they resurrect themselves and you have to start the process all over. One time, the pot resurrected infinitely and I had to give up. This is just obnoxious and I’m curious why it wasn’t fixed in the first patch?

DAI Snow Party

#7 – Repetitive Sayings

I love how the different characters have unique conversations with each other. With that said, Some sayings that I’ve heard 29576285 times get under my skin – especially the original three classes. If I have to hear how the Legionnaire had to fight Dark Spawn for three days one more time I might lose my s@#$. When you play a character excessively, you’re going to learn all their sayings by heart and smash your face against the wall every time you hear them – which you will, a lot.

#6 – People Who take Forever To Queue Up

JUST PRESS THE QUEUE UP BUTTON. What are you really doing between matches. If you’re waiting for a team comp or another player, that’s one thing. If you’re ONE cloth away from upgrading your armor or making a new class, fine. Any other thing can wait. Wait to open chests after you’re done for the evening, your gold isn’t going anywhere. Just open four large chests later. Do your salvaging all at once. isn't that easier? /rage.

#5 – Demon Commander

Why only 05 for the Demon Commander? Simply put, it’s an easy fight if you know what you’re doing or if you’re with friends. When I solo, I force myself to tank because I know I can beat the Demon Commander. If your tank doesn’t know the fight (or you don't have a  tank), you’re going to have a rough time. Melee DPS gets the short end of the stick here. On Routine especially, the Demon Commander is easily the hardest of the three bosses. I wrote a full video guide on how to defeat it, spread the word!

#4 – Players who Spam “Come Here” at Class Doors and Refuse to Help

These guys are the worst. I GET that there is a door I can open right next to you, but do you see all these demons over here that the three of us are fighting?! Why don’t you help us defeat them, then nothing else would make me happier than opening that door. But like, you know, DEMONS!  HELP! On top of trying to take on these foes with only three, the sound bite of your characters wanting me to come here is literally killing me. Allow me to point you back to point 07 on the list. Just stop.

#3 –People Who Refuse to Make Team Comps

I once joined a game in the creation phase where everyone was an archer. So, of course, I switched to archer. Everyone leaves. In the four man team, have one of each class type: warrior, rogue, and mage. Don’t be that guy who joins and makes everything crappy. Having one character of each class type you enjoy playing to remain flexible. This sometimes involves you being the bigger man and switching from something you want to play, just to optimize efficiency. Yay teamwork!

DAI Multiplayer Chest

#2 – AFKers

I take it back, THESE guys are the worst. AFKers have this mystical way of just ruining online experiences in video games. DAI is no different. The AFKers plague both game lobbies and matches. The glory of DAI though is that you can kick players in both the lobbies and matches. This takes three people to commit to it though. I’ve never seen a player booted in a match even though they are clearly not doing anything. I don’t think enough players are aware that this can be done. On threatening and above, you’re REALLY going to want four players.

#1 – RNG Gods Frowning Upon You

Anytime something is random, it has the potential to be extremely frustrating. In DAI, opening chests gets you completely random loot and potions. I’ve played with friends who got new classes on their first chest while I didn’t get one nearly after 20 hours or so. If you try to play mages exclusively but only get purple bows, it’s aggravating. In a sense, your loot determines what  class you should be playing – to effectively beat harder difficulties at least. You may get everything you ever want or you may live with gray quality weapons forever – it’s all random. There is no system to buy or get new weapon other than luck – at least you can unlock classes and upgrade armor though longevity of playing. Frustrating.
