Developer Rockstar Games has finally detailed the contents of today's "Festive Surprise" update to GTA Online, the multiplayer portion of Grand Theft Auto 5. While players cleverly mined the game to figure out most of the update's new content, Rockstar Games has a more in-depth look at what's new in GTA Online.
Explosive Stocking Stuffers
Over at Ammu-Nation you can find a new Homing Missile Launcher and Proximity Mines. These items will be permanently available to acquire and keep.
Snow Days
Dreaming of a white Christmas? Today's update brings forecast for San Andreas snowfall on "a few special days" this holiday season. Apparently, you'll be able to round up your Crew for a friendly snowball fight. Maybe there'll be a special event?
Free Seasonal Christmas Gear and Masks
We all know it's not Christmas without some ugly Christmas sweaters. So thankfully, those are also in today's update. As are new scarves, hats, maks, and holiday pajamas. All of these new items are available for free to add to your inventory and wear now through Monday, January 5.
Four New Vehicles
Now that you can own a third property and garage, you'll need to fill it with something. Why not one of the four all-new vehicles: a tricked out Hot Rod Christmas Ratloaders, a stury Slam Van, or the fast and flashy Massacro and Jester sports cars? All of these vehicles will be available permanently to acquire and keep.
Holiday Special Crate Drops
Keep your eyes open for Holiday Special Crate Drops falling from the sky. These will drop "frequently" now through January 5th, and are filled with all sorts of goodies — including a few of the rare vintage GTA tees from some of the Social Club Event Weekends over the past year.
Christmas Day Gifts
Make sure to check your inventory on Christmas Day, December 25, for a few extra gifts.
New Year's Fireworks
Ring in the New Year with a band — the new Firework Launcher and Firework rocket ammo are returning and will be available to acquire and use from Christmas Eve until Monday, January 5th. You can score one for free on four special days: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day.
The Festive Surprise is now available to all GTA Online players on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3.
