EA Sports sends PS4, copy of Madden 15 to cheated Lions fan

Lions fans actually got cheated twice last week

Last weekend, prior to the Detroit Lions/Dallas Cowboys playoff game, a few young football fans were selected to participate in a contest of musical chairs held outside of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. After a riveting competition, the winner, a 10-year-old named Roman, was supposed to win a brand new copy of Madden NFL 15 for PS4. All is good, right?

Wrong.

Upon noticing that Roman was a Lions fan, the MC had the participants replay the game of musical chairs. Roman lost the second time, to a Cowboys fan, in what was likely a rigged competition.

Both kids ended up winning a prize, but as a result of their fandom, Roman was instead given the complete first season of Batman: The Television Series and a Led Zeppelin CD, while the Cowboys fan was treated to the copy of Madden. Look, I never complain about free things, but it's clear here that Roman was cheated.

As a Cowboys fan, and I'm ashamed of how the MC behaved. It's even worse when you watch it on video.

I don't care if he was a Lions fan; to humiliate a young boy on stage like that just because he's the fan of the opposing team is just plain wrong.

Thankfully, EA Sports, developer of Madden, was made aware of the situation. Having seen the story, good guy EA (boy, it feels weird saying that) not only sent Roman a copy of Madden 15, but also a brand new PlayStation 4 and a Lions mini-helmet signed by wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
