Dust off the ol' axe, and start tuning those strings. We're putting the band back together.
For the first time in nearly two years, Harmonix will be adding to the Rock Band library of music. Tomorrow, January 13, three new songs will become avialable for purchase to play in Rock Band 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360. They are:
- Arctic Monkeys – “R U Mine?”
- Avenged Sevenfold – “Shepherd Of Fire”
- Foo Fighters – “Something From Nothing”
Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with any of them, but apparently they've got some history. For instance, Foo Figthers' "Something From Nothing" can be heard in the opening sequence of the HBO music documentary series Sonic Highways.
Harmonix didn't go into detail as to why they are suddenly releasing new DLC, but Harmonix's Nick Chester explained to Destructoid, "We had an exciting opportunity to add new content to the already massive Rock Band library with a song from Arctic Monkeys — a band that's never been in a Rock Band title before! — as well as new music from fan favorites Avenged Sevenfold and Foo Fighters. We couldn't pass it up. Also, we wanted to see if we could still do it. Turns out we can. It's sort of like riding a bike."
As for the future of Rock Band DLC, Harmonix gave the typical PR response: "Regarding future DLC… let's not get ahead of ourselves!"
