Here’s why Nintendo isn’t selling the New Nintendo 3DS in North America

I guess I can't disagree.

During today's Nintendo Direct, the release date and price of the New Nintendo 3DS was revealed. In the details of the announcement there was one glaring for North America, only the New Nintendo 3DS XL will be sold.

This limitation will not be imposed upon every territory that the New 3DS will be hitting, so far it's only happening in North America.

But why? Nintendo of America has an answer to why this limit was imposed on:

Different territories make their own business decisions regarding individual products and timing. We think New Nintendo 3DS XL makes the most sense for our market. Nintendo makes different systems at different price points for a whole range of consumers, and New Nintendo 3DS XL simply expands those choices even further.

It would seem like Nintendo looked at the sales of the 3DS and 3DS XL to make this decision.

Will it ever release in North America?

We have nothing to announce at this time.

The biggest wonder is, will the original 3DS be discontinued in North America as it was in Japan?
