Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, the next-gen remake of PlayStation 1 platformer Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee which was released on PS4 last year, finally has a release date for Xbox One, PS3, and Steam. Well, kind of.
As announced by Oddworld Inhabitants today, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty will release for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam (with other storefronts TBA) on February 25, 2015. The Xbox One and PS3 versiosn will arrive shortly after in early March 2015. The Wii U and PS Vita versions are still on the way, but development is taking a bit longer.
"Converting our bespoke code, physics, highly detailed art assets and complex audio engines for the two formats from the PlayStation 4 and PC base continues to present engineering challenges relating to performance and memory, but recent progress is encouraging as we strive to make every iteration of New ‘n’ Tasty the perfect fit for the platform," the company said.
In addition to the brand new visuals and audio, all versions will take advantage of the post-launch improvements made to the PS4 version, including the fan-requested "old-school" control settings. These versions will feature the same QuikSave and QuikLoad functions as well as a full offering of achievements, online leaderboards for speedrunners, and cloud saves on Steam.
While pre-purchase offers, features and specs for the PC/Mac/Linux versions will be announced at a later date, Oddworld Inhabitants did confirm it'll be priced on Steam for $20, with a 10% discount on pre-purchases.
