Director Matthew Vaughn says you’ll like Fantastic Four if you like Chronicle

Flame on

There's less than eight months until the release of Fox's reboot for Fantastic Four, and we haven't seen anything  yet. There's a few leaked images, but we don't have a trailer, concept art — nothing. There's little hype for the movie, mainly due to the bad taste left in everyone's mouths from the last two Fantastic Four films. The only thing that the new one has going for it is that Chronicle director Josh Trank is directing the reboot.

Oh, and Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who's new film Kingsman: The Secret Service releases soon, is speaking out in support of Fantastic Four. Vaugn said that if you like Chronicle, you'll like Fantastic Four. Here's the quote from Vaughn in an interview with Flickering Myth:

"I've seen the movie, it's good… I thought Chronicle was a fantastic movie and [Josh] Trank has gone off and done his version of Fantastic Four. If you like Chronicle, then you'll like this… We're all backing Josh Trank's vision… And hopefully the world will like Josh Trank's vision."

There have been rumors that the found-footage format from Chronicle will be part of the movie. Here's the official synopsis for Fantastic Four:

The Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Fantastic Four stars Kate Mara as Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm / The Thing, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch, and Toby Kebbell as Victor Domashev / Dr. Doom. It is set to release on August 7, 2015.
