Looking to build on the record-setting holiday sales, Microsoft is bringing back to the Xbox One price cut. Starting today, January 16, you can buy an Xbox One for $349, $50 cheaper than its regular price of $399 (without the Kinect).
The $50 price cut was supposed to be temporary for the holidays. It went into effect in November, resulting in Xbox One sales "skyrocketing." With the Xbox One having now led all other current-gen platforms in sales in the U.S. for the months of November and December 2014, I guess Microsoft wants to continue its domination.
Looking ahead, though, it's not just price that'll help move units. The Xbox One has a number of exciting exclusives and blockbusters on the way in 2015, including Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Evolve, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Battlefield Hardline, and many more that I'm sure will be revealed at E3 in June.
Microsoft says the reduction in price is, again, temporary, but they've not yet announced an end date. "We want to see how people react to it," Michael Nichols, corporate vice president of marketing for Xbox told Polygon.
