Watch Dogs dev: sequel will take more risks

Admits the first game isn't perfect

Jonathan Morin, Watch Dogs creative director, spoke to GamesTM, admitting that the game was not perfect "in any way," and promising that a sequel would take more risks. 

Here are Morin's statements:

"I don't think Watch Dogs is perfect in any way and there's a lot of room for improvement. But you don't always see this when you ship a game. We deliver what we believe the brand should be at the time… But afterward, when you cool down after five and a half years [of development] and take your vacations and people play the game, certain elements become clear. They let you continue to bring what you envision to the next level with the fans included this time, which is where I think it really gets interesting."

If that's the mindset, I'd say they should probably have the fans included the entire time. No group is more honest about how they feel about something than gamers. Now while there's been no official announcement regarding Watch Dogs 2, remember that Ubisoft's senior vice president of sale and marketing said regarding sequels, "That's what all our games are about; we won't even start if we don't think we can build a franchise out of it. There's no more fire and forget — it's too expensive." I would imagine that Ubisoft will make a sequel, and according to Morin, the team wants to be challenged:

"We have to give [the development team] something hard to do. If we don't, they could fade out, which means you don't benefit from their knowledge or they will leave. Our team is really assimilated with the challenge we have and who knows where it will lead us next."
