Exploding Kittens Kickstarter hits goal in 20 minutes

And I want to play it.

Exploding Kittens was put on Kickstarter earlier today, within 20 minutes the game was backed and in within the hour…it was far more than backed.

Exploding Kittens is the brain child of Shane Small (of Xbox and Marvel) and Elan Lee (former Chief of Design Officer for Xbox Entertainment). It was originally a game called "Bomb Squad," but the only aspect of the game that stuck and made its way into Exploding Kittens was the exploding part.

Lee switched up some aspects of the game and the two showed it to Matthew Inman (the man behind The Oatmeal), that's when Exploding Kittens was officially brought to life.

The Kickstarter only asked for $10,000 to hit their goal, as of writing this (and the number keeps going up) it is sitting at $2,031,798. So, if the game isn't super kick-a**, then we know exactly who to blame (and it won't be lack of funds). Exploding Kittens works like this, players draw cards until and exploding kitten is drawn. The player that draws this card dies and is out of the game. There are cards that will let you avoid exploding kittens by peeking at cards before you draw, making other players take multiple cards, shuffling the deck and more.

There are even weaponized enchiladas that will help you along your path to victory.
