Sony ending support for PS Vita’s YouTube app

Support for Maps and Near App also coming to an end

An early morning announcement from Sony today revealed that the PlayStation Vita will be losing support for some of its applications.

The first application that will be losing support is the YouTube App, followed by the Maps and Near App.

The YouTube App will no longer be available for download starting today and will lose full support from PlayStation on April 20th, 2015. Vita owners will still be able to access YouTube (as well as their own YouTube data, like playlists and channels) by going accessing YouTube in the "Browser" app and signing into your Google account.

The other applications that will be losing support are the Maps and the Near App. The Near App (similar to Nintendo's Street Pass) allows Vita owners to find Vita owners/players in their vicinity, see what games they are playing and share game items/ info with other owners/players. The Maps and Near App will lose support in the next system software update in March.
