Here’s what an episode of Conan would look like if animated in Minecraft

Too bad the "Minecraft people" said no

We already know late night host Conan O'Brien has an interest in games. For months now he's been running a segment on his show called Clueless Gamer where he plays upcoming games before they're released and reviews them in the most ridiculous of ways. Of course, he doesn't really know anything about games (or at least pretends not to), but it's entertaining to watch either way.

Looking to broaden his appeal and venture further into the realm of digital games, Conan wondered what it would be like to take an entire episode of his show and re-air it, animated entirely in Minecraft's signature blocky style.

According to Conan, he asked "the Minecraft people" about the idea, and though they were initially on-board with the idea, they later changed their minds. So while it doesn't look like we'll get an entire episode, Conan did at least give us a taste at what it would look like if it were to ever happen.  But it won't. Or will it? Or did it already?

I don't know about you, but I absolutely loved this segment. Blocky Conan is funny, but I just about lost it when Cameron Diaz popped up. The part with the band and the crowd was pretty great too.

I don't think for one second Conan actually wants to animate a full episode (although I would love if they did). I have a sneaking suspicion that this was actually a paid-for spot by Microsoft who recently acquired the Minecraft IP. Either way, it's really cool to see video games highlighted in mainstream media in a way that's not totally negative.
