The first trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 has released, and to be honest, it's kind of a mixed bag for me. The trailer starts out strong when 47 is being held in the interrogation room, and then it gets kind of bland. I was bored watching it. This is a reboot of the already bland 2007 Hitman movie starring Timothy Olyphant. Hitman: Agent 47 stars Rupert Friend in the titular role, as well as Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto. It is directed by Aleksander Bach.
Here's the official synopsis for Hitman: Agent 47:
HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research—and forty-six earlier Agent clones—endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
To go along with the trailer, 20th Century Fox released a video called Hitman: Agent 47 | Trailer Execution. In it, YouTube personalities say how they are going to show the trailer for the film, and then they are killed in a variety of different ways before they can show it. I get what Fox was going for with marketing, but the acting is sooooo bad that it just comes off as bad and cheesy. It's not funny… at all… and it has the vibe that it should be.
Hitman: Agent 47 releases in theaters on August 28, 2015.
