What if I told you that Mario's super human leg strength is probably that of an alien? Science is backing this hypothesis up. PBS Space Time used the formula to find surface gravity to find all the interesting facts on Mario's true background.
The science:
The world in Super Mario World (for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System) has eight times the surface gravity that Earth has. So, PBS took Mario's height (1.55 meters), the height that he jumps (3.5 meters), and the speed in which he jumps and halved it (.3 seconds). What did they find out?
Mario has A.) has super human leg strength and B.) is an alien.
If Mario jumped on Earth he would jump at a speed of 50 MPH and as high as 28 meters (over 90 feet). That means he has super-human leg strength; I don't know any human that can do that. On a planet that has eight times the surface gravity of Earth, well, a human would die. The human heart cannot pump blood into the brain with that surface gravity, so, Mario is an alien plumber with a super heart.
It all makes sense if you look at the world Mario is in. He rides a green dinosaur thing, there are mushroom people (that Nintendo claims aren't mushrooms) and bipedal princess stealing turtles.
