Rumor: New Rock Band in development for Xbox One and PS4

To be revealed at PAX East?

Our suspicions have been confirmed. Well, sort of. According to "a person familiar with" Harmonix's plan (via Bloomberg), a new Rock Band is being developed for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Unfortunately, the source asked not to be named, because obviously the "matter is private," so consider this a rumor for now.

Of course, if you've been following the news lately, you'll know that Harmonix has been acting pretty suspicious lately. Last month, after a nearly two year hiatus, Harmonix added three new downloadable tracks to the Rock Band 3 library of music.

After another month break, Harmonix again added two new tracks to the catalog. This week, Weezer's "Back to the Shack" and Tenacious D's "Rize of the Fenix" were added to Rock Band's library. As observant gamers pointed out, the two songs share a similar theme in that they are about returning to form after a long absence.

When we suggested that Harmonix was planting some sort of clue for a new Rock Band game, leading up to a possible reveal at PAX East next month (March 6-8) — which just so happens to be held in Harmonix's hometown of Boston — we were met with a pretty interesting response…

I think we mean you're making a new Rock Band game! I just hope that, if true, it's a full-blown game and not some spinoff or crappy mobile game.
