As you may be aware, Sony's original live-action series Powers debuted last week. And what better way to tease potentially new features for its PlayStation devices than through its PlayStation Network exclusive series?
That's exactly what Sony may have done, as IGN spotted a scene in the show that potentially could have revealed a concept for the PS4's in-game video chat. In one of the episodes, there's a part where you can see "Chaotic Chick" talking in a video box on the same screen as a game very much similar to inFAMOUS: Second Son is being played.
Of course, this isn't confirmation that Sony will add in-game video chat to the PlayStation 4, but Brian Liebler, vice president of video messaging app ooVoo, did mention at CES 2015 that he hopes his service will launch for PS4 in the April-June quarter. It will presumably use the PlayStation Camera accessory in the same way the Microsoft uses the Kinect for its already-supported Xbox One in-game video chat. On the Xbox One, users can "Snap" the Skype app to talk with friends or family during gameplay, very similar to what it looks like Sony is planning — you know, if what was shown in Powers is any indication of future plans.
The first three episodes of Powers debuted last week. The entire ten-episode series is available for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
