Destiny update 1.1.2 will give you more control over game audio

Including the ability to mute the game's music

Last week, Bungie shared a general overview of its plans for Destiny's next update. As promised, the developer has begun delving into a bit more detail regarding the varous aspects of the game that could see some changes, starting today with audio and visual.

"While you’ve been listening to the audio mix in Destiny, we’ve been listening to you. Along with the other features we’re bundling into 1.1.2, we’re delivering some new Settings you need in order to isolate the frequency of the people in your Fireteam – or pump up your own jams," Bungie promised.

Included in the next update are two different volume settings — game volume and chat volume. According to Jay Weinland, Bungie's Head of Audio, "Chat Volume is a setting that will let you adjust the players on your team in a range from 50% up to +125%. Game Volume adjusts all in-game dialogue, sounds effects, and music as one cohesive unit in a range from 0% to 100%." He added that Chat Volume adjusts the chat volume out of your speakers, not your chat headset.

The update will also give players the chance to mute the in-game music, allowing you to to listen to your own music while playing Destiny.

The last part of today's Bungie update was more of a teaser.

"To prove again that Destiny music can also enhance the time you spend with your friends, we’ve added a fun little audio Easter egg to the game. It’ll be in there, somewhere. Once the update is live, see if you can find it…"

Bungie doesn't yet have a release date for update 1.1.2, but did say that it will arrive sometime between now and the release of Destiny's next DLC, House of Wolves.
