After two months of waiting patiently, PlayStation 4 owners in Europe are finally getting their chance to participate in the closed beta for PlanetSide 2. Announced today, the European closed beta testing will begin on March 25, 2015 — so next week!
Fans eager to see how the MMO first-person shooter translates from PC to console can sign up for the beta over at the PlanetSide 2 website.
Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment) didn't divulge the selection process, but I assume it'll be handled in similar fashion to how they've been sending out codes for the U.S. That is, you'll be invited based on the order in which you signed up. So the earlier you sign up for the beta, the sooner you'll receive your code.
Although PlanetSide 2 has been in closed beta on PS4 in the United States for a few months now, I was just only recentinly invited to participate. And even then, it was an invite through a code giveaway on Twitter — not even through the sign-up process. If the beta sign-ups in Europe are similar to the U.S., then expect to be waiting for quite a while.
Don't worry though, because the wait has been well worth it. I've only played a few times since getting my invite and even though I suck at the game, I'm still enjoying it. It's not perfect by any means, but that's the point of a beta. Get it, participate in some large-scale warfare, and let Daybreak know how they can improve the console experience.
