If there's thing this generation is sorely lacking, it's quality rom-coms set in the high school environment (played by actors well older than their characters). The 90s was filled with them, and now The Weinstein Company and Miramax are looking to bring one of the most iconic of them — She's All That — back to the big screen for a new generation.
According to The Wrap, Kenny Leon will direct the remake which will presumably follow the same premise of a high school jock (played by Freddie Prinze Jr.) attempt to transform a shy art student into his high school's prom queen as part of a bet.
The report claims that the remake is "expected to be developed with diverse leads in mind," which I guess is code for not your stereotypical white leads.
The original film starred Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cooke as the two leads, Zack Siler and Laney Boggs, respectively. And I'm pretty sure it was Freddie Prinze Jr.'s only decent film ever released. The supporting cast included Paul Walker, Matthew Lillard, Anna Paquin, Lil' Kim, and even Usher Raymond.
90's at its finest.
