Last week, Rocksteady announced that Batman: Arkham Knight will have a season pass. It didn't come as much of a surprise — seeing as how this is a Warner Bros. game — but fans became upset over the fact that so little was revealed about it. Still, that didn't stop the publisher from asking for your $39.99 early.
Responding to fan backlash, Warner Bros. has taken to the official game's forums and finally revealed a few more details about the upcoming season pass.
For starters, it will offer six month's of post-launch content and include "more narrative, mroe missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn't fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight."
So what are we getting for $39.99? While Warner Bros. wasn't ready to unveil every aspect of the season pass, they did reveal a few juicy morsels.
The highlight is a new expansion pack focused on Batgirl. This "new prequel story expansion" will take you to an entirely new location and let you play as Batgirl. We don't know the premise, but the first render of her was unveiled.
Other content includes "The Season of Infamy" where you'll play as Batman in new story missions featuring "legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions, and gameplay features." The "Gotham City Stories" will let you play as Batman's allies in narrative missions that extend their storylines, from both before and after the events in the main story campaign.
There'll also be new challenge maps, a variety of character skins from across the different eras for Batman, Robin, Knightwing, and Catwoman, as well as custom-built race tracks where you can "drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman's 75-year history." Each track is themed to that Batmobile's specific era, and every Batmoile will be drivable across every race track.
Those are all the details that were shared, but Warner Bros. promises to reveal more details on each monthly content drop as time goes on.
