Is NetherRealm’s Ed Boon teasing Rain for Mortal Kombat X?

Boon is a huge internet troll; Has he gone too far?

Prior to its release, Mortal Kombat X's roster of fighters was disputed amongst the game's community. Everyone wanted to see their favorite fighters in the game, and unfortunately the game left out a number of characters from the Kombatant roster. Instead the characters made guest appearences in the game itself.

One of these characters is Rain. Without too many spoilers, Rain is a part of the game's story mode. He was first spotted in one of the initial trailers for Mortal Kombat X and then, much to the dismay of fans, left out of the playable Kombatant roster. One modder felt the pain of the community so bad that decided to make Rain playable (along with Baraka and Sindel).

Now, there is still hope that non-playable characters from the game's story mode will be released as DLC fighters and the hope that this happens is nearly crushing the Mortal Kombat community. Ed Boon, the co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series, is a huge internet troll. He's constantly playing with our emotions and teasing things.

This time, he teased Rain:

My emotions cannot handle this, Boon.
