Yesterday, we reported on a new deal for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The deal was offered from game purveyor Green Man Gaming (GMG), and at the time it was the best deal we had seen yet. There appears to be a problem with it, though.
Developer CD Projekt Red has urged their fans not to purchase the game through the online retailer.
In a reply to a forum post on the GMG sale, Rafal Jaki, the Business Development Manager at CD Projekt Red stated, "I would kindly ask our fans not to buy via GMG at this time. We had not sold them Keys and dont know the origin of them."
If CD Projekt Red did not sell GMG game keys for The Witcher 3, then where are these games coming from? It is unclear whether GMG is taking pre-orders and then making an order from CD Projekt Red for the amount of pre-orders or if they have somehow obtained unofficial game keys. Either way, CD Projekt Red asks that if fans wish to buy The Witcher 3 at this time, that they head over to their official GOG.com page. Any purchase made there is made directly through CD Projekt Red.
We are waiting for an official statement from GMG on the subject.
The BioShock player in me makes me uncomfortable hearing "would" and "kindly" paired so close together.
