Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection won’t have multiplayer, here’s why

Naughty Dog doesn't want to hurt the current online community

So yesterday, Sony confirmed what most of us already suspected — Uncharted being remastered for PlayStation 4. Announced yesterday, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection bundles the first three Uncharted games — Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception — for PS4 in glorious 1080p/60FPS (with other improvements as well).

What we didn't know, until shortly after the Collection's reveal, was that it won't include any multiplayer from the three games.

"No online multiplayer for the game in the collection," PlayStation's Eric Monacelli confirmed. "Access to the U4 multiplayer beta will be included tho!"

The reason for not including multiplayer, according to Monacelli, was to not split up "our awesome [Uncharted 2] and [Uncharted 3] multiplayer communities that we have right now either."

"We didn’t want to fracture the current player pool and community," he added.

On the bright side, purchasing Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will provide access to Uncharted 4's beta, so you will at least get some sort of online multiplayer gameplay.
