Okay folks, try to stay with us on this one. There's a new rumor floating around the web that Warner Bros. could be working on a new Superman game, but the evidence pretty questionable at this time. Still, it's fun to speculate so here goes…
Rumors had been popping up like crazy in the last couple of days, a new Superman game. It all started with an image (above) of Kal El, aka Superman, with what seems to be an Xbox interface. There's no way to prove the legitimacy of the image considering it stemmed from a tumblr account, but since then a GIF popped up proving that it's more than just a photoshopped image.
WB Montréal, the guys behind the prequel Arkham Origins game, is the speculated developer, which actually fits since the studio is hiring for multiple positions related to the development “a new IP project for next generation game platforms.” WB's listings describe “a passionate dev team developing DC Comics-focused AAA games that evolve and celebrate the legendary brands of Warner Bros.”
Now this is all speculation, you should take this with a grain of salt or even less. But these rumors keep popping up. A few days ago, there was a couple more pictures posted online — two new images showing off concept art for Superman and the villain Braniac.
You can see in bottom left corner that there is an image showing a WB Montréal logo, suggesting the legitimacy of the game, but who knows? The date from the picture shows us that the game has been in development since February.
With the ending of the Arkham series, maybe a new superhero needs to fill the Bats shoes, and who better than Superman. It also makes a lot of sense since the new movie 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' movie is set to release next year. They could potentially use some of the momentum of the movie to push the game even further. With San Diego Comic-Con this week, it's possible we could get an announcement.
