Scalebound, ‘making good progress’ says Phil Spencer, Gamescom reveal up next

After skipping E3, epic action game will get its time to shine in Cologne

Platinum Games' upcoming Xbox exclusive Action game, Scalebound made some small headlines prior to E3 2015, by not attending the show.  However, in a somewhat under-the-radar tweet he made to an inquiring fan, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Xbox, gave a small window of detail into the state of Scalebound.

“SB is making good progress, my first game with @platinumgames.  I always learn working with new studios.”

Scalebound is also reportedly going to be “front and center” for Microsoft’s presentation at Gamescom alongside Crackdown and Quantum Break, Xbox exclusives that were also notably absent from E3 2015.

Scalebound is described as an action game with a focus on large, epic battles against monsters and dragons.  Players will have a dragon partner of their own that they will come to form a relationship with, but the details of which as well as what kind of game Scalebound will be remain largely unknown.

Scalebound was first revealed at Microsoft’s E3 presentation in 2014 by game director Hideki Kamiya in a concept cinematic trailer but no gameplay has been shown yet.  However, it’s probably a safe bet that since Microsoft is intending to use the game as a focal point for its Gamescom presentation, we won’t have to wait long to see it in action.

Scalebound was reported to be very early in its development at the time of its reveal, so it’s unclear whether or not a release date will be given.
