Year Walk was a surreal puzzle adventure game for ioS that pulled from Swedish mythology and obscure tradition and partnered it with soft horror animations and The Ring style sound effects. It was a great little effort and it only improved when it showed up on Steam last year. If you missed this sleeper, it's okay, because it was just announced for Nintendo's Wii U. The Årsgång comes to the console this year with new integration and is being completely rebuilt to integrate with the Wii U’s distinctive controller.
Via their blog, creators Simogo explained, "Unlike the PC-version, which used cursor controls to interact with puzzles and contraptions, we now use custom motion controls for almost every puzzle. For example, if you find something in the forest that you can spin or rotate, you'll physically rotate the GamePad, with really finely tuned controls. The GamePad rumbles and makes lovely sounds (make sure you have the volume all cranked up on it!), and it just feels amazingly tactile – like you're actually holding the objects in your hands."
Even in its original incarnation, Year Walk was a gorgeous and creepy game and it has only improved through each new incarnation and its new appearance on the Wii U console actually feels like a great fit.
Year Walk will be dropping before the end of the year, but no official release date has been set.
