Capcom files trademark for Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps

So far the trademarks popped up in Japan and Europe, no North America yet.

It looks like we might be getting a new installment in the Resident Evil franchise! Capcom has filed a trademark for Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps in both Europe and Japan. The game company first filed a trademark in Europe for Umbrella Corps, then followed up with a trademark for Biohazard Umbrella Corps in Japan.

In case you were wondering, Biohazard is the name of the franchise in Japan. While this trademark could be for anything, the official registration covers the full range of gaming platforms, including “portable consoles with LCD screens,” “TV Home Consoles” and Mobile.

Capcom has been quite open with their intentions of "selling HD remastered versions of popular older games." The company is currently working on the Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster, so it's a wonder what Umbrella Corps could be. It is quite possible that it will be a sequel to Raccoon City, but we can hope that for the sake of the series… it isn't. If Umbrella Corps is a new installment in the Resident Evil series it would be interesting to see where Capcom goes with it.
