Benicio Del Toro confirmed to be in talks for role in Star Wars: Episode 8

Let's see if he lands the part!

While we have plenty of information to keep us slightly confused when it comes to the five planned Star Wars films, we don't have quite enough information on Star Wars: Episode VIII. As far as we know, Looper director Rian Johnson is set to act as director on the film and Ram Bergman as producer.

Rumors have suggested that Benicio Del Toro (who played The Collector in Thor: The Dark World and reprised his role in Guardians of the Galaxy amongst plenty of other roles throughout his career) was in talks to be the main villain in Episode 8 — this rumor has been confirmed by the man himself.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight Benicio confirmed that he is in talks for a role in Episode 8, but has been sworn into silence by Disney and Lucasfilm's. “I can’t tell you much about it but I think that it might happen. It looks like it’s gonna happen, so I’m very excited,” he said. “I can’t talk too much about it. The script is hard to get. They told me they’d cut my finger if I talk about it…"

Benicio has been interested in Star Wars since he saw the original at 10 years old, "I saw the original one when it came out and it marked me… I was impressed by the film and by the characters and by the story and the message.”

There you have it folks, Mickey Mouse will track him down if he reveals any more information than that, but it's more than enough for me.
