Nintendo announced that starting August 30th, a new price cut will go into effect, dropping the price of the Nintendo 2DS from $129.99 down to $99.99. This will match last year's low price offered during Black Friday.
With the new price, gamers will be getting an even better value as the Nintendo 2DS will still come packaged with the digital version of Mario Kart 7.
“At a suggested retail price of $99.99, Nintendo 2DS is an even more attractive introductory option for first-time gamers,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan.”
The Nintendo 2DS was first introduced in August 2013, offering gamers a cheaper alternative to the 3DS. Not to mention, no hinges mean it's also more durable for families with younger children or really rough adults. The system plays nearly the entire library of Nintendo 3DS games in 2D, as well as most Nintendo DS games. Local multiplayer and online play with internet access are also supported.
