Star Wars: Shattered Empire reveals the parents of major character in The Force Awakens

Poe Dameron's parents revealed in first issue of new Star Wars comic

While there's been plenty of marketing surrounding Finn, Rey, and even Kylo Ren, there's one Star Wars: The Force Awakens character that's largely flown under the radar — Poe Dameron. Played by Oscar Isaac, not much is known about the newcomer except that he's "the best freaking pilot in the galaxy."

Speaking at Star Wars Celebration, Isaac revealed that Dameron, in The Force Awakens, has been sent on a mission "by a certain princess" when he comes across John Boyega's character, Finn. We also know that he's a member of the Resistance and one of the leaders in the group's fight against the First Order, commanding a squad of T-70 X-Wing fighters and flying under the callsign of "Black Leader."

While the Dameron's role in The Force Awakens largely remains a mystery, some of his past was actually revealed in the first issue of Star Wars: Shattered Empire. While not directly about the character himself, Star Wars: Shattered Empire #1 did introduce Poe Dameron's parents: Rebel Sergeant Kes Dameron and A-Wing pilot Lieutenant Shara Bey. We're introduced to the two characters during the final moments of the Battle of Endor as Shara searches for her husband to make sure he's alright. See the exchange from the comic below:
