Is Netflix preparing to bring six Star Wars films to the service?

Something is fishy here.

Back in 2012 Netflix and Disney reached a deal that would allow Netflix customers to stream a catalog of titles from Disney and four of its subsidiaries: Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios and Disneynature. While the deal is set in stone, Netflix customers won't be seeing any new releases until next year.

It is also important to know that Disney owns Lucasfilm, the company that brings us the gift that is Star Wars.

All of this is necessary to know, especially considering that Netflix has set up place holder pages for both the original Star Wars films and the three that we pretend never happened, but watch out of sheer weakness. Now, Netflix has made a statement on the pages, saying that they have "no official plans" to bring Star Wars to Netflix.

Just because the plans aren't official, doesn't mean that they aren't in talks, with The Force Awakens releasing in December, it would make total sense for Netflix to ask Disney to hand them over.

It looks like Netflix doesn't want any speculation, considering the placeholder pages are slowly disappearing. Thank goodness for screencaps 🙂
