There's a lot going on with the Gambit movie right now, Channing Tatum has officially signed on for the lead role and the director has officially signed off of the project. So, while that project sits in a director-less limbo, there's one more confirmed bit of news for the film — it will be made without Anna Paquin.
You might not believe it, but X-Men released 15 years ago and Paquin has played Rogue in the last four X-Men films — X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past. She won't be making a return as Rogue in the Gambit spin-off though.

In the X-Men series Rogue and Gambit have been in love and apart a number of times, so it makes sense to have Rogue featured in the Gambit movie and the character still might be in the film – just without Paquin playing the role. Either way, the movie needs a director more than it needs an actress for Rogue.
