Star Wars: The Force Awakens world premiere date and city revealed

Stay off the internet in December.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the world premiere of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be held in Los Angeles on December 14th, four days before it hits theaters across the United States.

It hasn't been formally announced by Disney or Lucasfilm, but THR claims Disney is "attempting to keep the film's secrets under wraps, so there will be minimal screenings for press and cast and crew in advance of the premiere."

We don't yet know who will walk the red carpet, but there's certainly no lack of talent in the star-studded cast comprised of newcomers and veterans. Though we've only really seen Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in the teasers, original cast members Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), and Anthony Daniels (C3PO). Joining them will be newcomers John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and Oscar Isaac (Poe), each of who will play a main protagonist. Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, and Lupita Nyong'o are also starring.

The world premiere is likely to be the first time most of the cast will be seen together.

The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 17th in the UK and December 16th in France, before its debut in the U.S. on December 18th. Disney had no comment on the date and location of the world premiere.
