While Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) is gearing up for next year’s premier of the TV adaptation for Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, news has gotten out that another show based on Gaiman’s works, Likely Stories, will begin filming this month.
Based on four of Gaiman’s short stories with the goal to “cross the illusion of cinema with the presence of theatre, conjuring a psychological, conceptual and physical state between reality and hallucination.” Tall order, especially for how visually lush Gaiman’s prose has always been, however Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard will be directing and have previously delivered on the Nick Cave documentary 20,000 Days on Earth.
It’s been a good several months for Gaiman fans as not only is American Gods and now Likely Tales in development, but it was also announced that one of his children books, Fortunately, The Milk, will make it into a feature film starring Johnny Depp and directed by Edgar Wright (Ant-Man).
While it hasn’t been announced which of the stories will be adapted, the creators are probably a little spoiled for choice with his four anthologies of short tales, however, it would be great to see The Price adapted. Because cats.
