Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 sets new record on PS4

Best-selling digital full game sold in first day in PS4 history

Following the announcement that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has become the biggest entertainment launch of 2015, Activision revealed the game set a new record on PlayStation 4.

According to Activision, Black Ops 3 set a new record as the best-selling digital full game by units sold in its first day of availability in PS4 history.

"As we‘ve said from the start, PlayStation is the best place to play Call of Duty, and this record-breaking launch shows how true this statement is. Black Ops 3 is the biggest launch of the year so far, and the PlayStation Nation is ready. We're proud to call PlayStation the home of Call of Duty and look forward to supporting our community with DLC map pack content first," said Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher and Developer Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Activision didn't specifically breakdown sales by console, but it's not surprise they are specifically touting sales on the PS4. After all, PlayStation is the new official home of Call of Duty after Activision announced a new partnership with Sony at E3 this year. Starting with Black Ops 3, PlayStation owners will have first dibts on all map packs from the series, similar to what Xbox owners enjoyed in previous years.
