Ghostbusters reboot gets a little more spooky with new promo image

They certainly ain't afraid of no ghosts.

By now, you've hopefully all come to grips that you're going to be calling a new group of Ghostbusters when there's something strange in your neighborhood. And while there's plenty of speculation surrounding the new reboot, which features an all-female foursome, there's also a bit of skepticism in the replacement of the original cast of Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, and the late Harold Ramis.

Looking to drum up some excitement and assure fans the paranormal vibe hasn't been lost with the move to an all-female squad, Sony has released a new cast photo of the group presumably about to go into action. This isn't the first time we've seen the four ladies posing together in costume. In July, director Paul Feig posted an image of Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon decked out in their full wardrobe — boots, belts, proton packs and all — standing in front of the new, revamped ECTO-1.

This is, however, the first time we've seen the group together in an appropriate environment, giving us a better sense of the style and tone of the Paul Feig-directed reboot. The backdrop appears to be that of a haunted hotel lobby, complete with an unnatural green light and fog floating across the floor; it's all very reminiscent of the original film, which I think fans will appreciate.

Of course, this is only a photo. I've still got my reservations as I'm awaiting an actual trailer to at least see the tonal direction of the reboot. Can we expect humor in the same vein as the original or will we get what some detractors believe will be another Bridesmaids, but with ghosts?
