Steam Store caching issues resolved, says Valve

Valve confirms Steam was not hacked

Valve has assured PC gamers that the issues affecting the Steam Store have been resolved. Yesterday the Steam Store experienced a "caching issue," according to Valve, which allowed some users to see account information from other, random users. The mishap led some to believe Steam had been hacked, which Valve assures was not the case.

Valve released the following statement in light of the situation:

"Steam is back up and running without any known issues. As a result of a configuration change earlier today, a caching issue allowed some users to randomly see pages generated for other users for a period of less than an hour. This issue has since been resolved. We believe no unauthorized actions were allowed on accounts beyond the viewing of cached page information and no additional action is required by users."

The issues, while not appearing to be terribly serious, couldn't have come at a worst time as Steam is currently hosting its annual Winter Sale, which typically garners a lot of traffic.
