Well, someone was quite the Grinch this Christmas. According to a report by Boston's Fox 25 (confirmed via Facebook), a Massachusetts family purchased a PlayStation 4 from Target to give to their son, nine-year-old Scott Lundy on Christmas morning.
"This is the best present ever this is the best Christmas ever!" the boy's father Brian Lundy recalled his son saying when he received the gift.
Unfortunately, the feeling of joy and happiness was soon lost when the gift was opening, revealing that in place of the PlayStation 4 was a wooden block sort of shaped like a console with an etching resembling a chode.
The Fox report features a photo of Scott holding the box over his head pre-opening, and pre-devastation.
"He's crying and he's upset and he's in the playroom by himself and he just wants to be alone so at that point. I was crushed," said Kristin Lundy, his step-mother.
The story at least has somewhat of a happy ending. The Lundy's were able to return the "console" to Target, which they tell Scott is the place Santa's elves got the console since they can't make electronics in the North Pole.
"They not only gave us a new game system but they also gave us a $100 gift card as well as an additional game that the original game that was supposed to be in the box. Couldn't have been any kinder," said Kristin.
Hopefully Scott isn't too scarred from this ordeal. The family blamed a "rogue elf" for the mishap and plan to write a letter to Santa about the naughty elf.
