Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil, if she doesn't scare you, perhaps Emma Stone will. Because according to a new report from the Hollywood Reporter, Emma Stone is in talks to portray "the spider waiting for the kill" in Disney's upcoming live action, origin film. Although the film currently does not have a director, the producer and writer slots have been filled.
Kelly Marcel, who is most recently known for penning Fifty Shades of Grey, will be writing the script for the movie. The film's producer, Andrew Gunn, has been involved with Sky High, Freaky Friday, Race to Witch Mountain featuring the Rock and the upcoming Bad Santa 2. Although it is a live action origin film, we still do not know the overall setting of the film. Nor do we know if it'll feature more of Cruella's childhood or focus more on her adulthood like Glenn Close's role we have yet to find out.
Villains tend to have an interesting dynamic when it comes to standalone films, though Emma Stone sure has her work cut out for her in making a character who skins dogs likable. Either way, I'm curious to see how this one pans out. Personally, I'm a fan of Emma Stone and will probably take the plunge on this one. According to the report, the studio is hoping to begin filming later this year.
