Last month, New Regency and 20th Century Fox released the first official stills from the anticipated movie, featuring Michael Fassbender and actress Ariane Labed. We don't know who Labed will play in the film, but we do know Fassbender is playing Callum Lynch, a character created specifically for the film which plays off the same time-traveling concept of the action-adventure game series.

"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain.  Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."

Assassin's Creed is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2016
